KNOWING THE FATHER AND THE SON

Yeshua Retreats to the Mountain at Night – James Tissot

Yeshua the Messiah said his Father was the only Elohim (Mighty One, Deity)

John 17:3 [The Scriptures 2009 - TS 2009]
And this is everlasting life, that they should know You, the only true Elohim, and יהושע (Yehoshua) Messiah whom You have sent.
(Words of Yeshua in purple)

SALVATION IS KNOWING
THE ETERNAL YAHWEH AS THE ONLY TRUE ELOHIM
AND YESHUA AS THE MESSIAH

Elohim is normally translated as ‘God’. There are several meanings of that word in the Holy Scriptures. It even applies to judges in Yisra’el. There are some believers and teachers who are teaching that the Father and the Messiah are not two people but are the same person. The verse above is a prayer of Yeshua the Messiah to his Father as the only true Elohim. Those teaching something different from what Yeshua said in this prayer are false teachers.

He is telling his Father that believers should also know Yeshua as the Messiah (Anointed) which is the title that was formerly given in theocracy to the King of Yisra’el.
For example:
King Dawid (David) the anointed (messiah) of the Eternal.
King Solomon, son of Dawid was anointed (messiah).

In the broad sense of the word, ‘messiah’ means anointed, but it is specially applied to Yeshua the Anointed King of Yisra’el. The kings of Yisra’el appointed, presented to as people as king by means of an anointing; they were anointed with oil.

THE PRIMITIVE ASSEMBLY ESTABLISHED BY THE MESSIAH
BELIEVED THAT THE FATHER IS THE ONLY TRUE ELOHIM
1 Corinthians 8:5-6 [Hebraic Roots Bible - HRB]
5 For even if there are so-called mighty ones, whether in heaven or on earth – as there are many mighty ones and many masters –
6 for us there is one Elohim, the Father, from whom all came and for whom we live, and one Master יהושע (Yeshoshua) Messiah, through whom all came and through whom we live.
7 However, not all have this knowledge

This was a good opportunity to say, “There is only one God, Father Son and Holy Spirit”. But, Shaul (Paul) never said that.

Verse 7 – <However, not all have this knowledge>: the knowledge of the verses above was present in the ‘primitive assembly or congregation’. That is the original understanding of the Messiah’s message before it was changed by Christian theologians.

FOR SHAUL (PAUL)
THE FATHER IS THE ONLY ELOHIM (MIGHTY ONE; 'GOD')
1 Timothy 2:5 [HRB]
5 For YAHWEH is one, also there is one Mediator of Elohim and of men, the Man Messiah Yahshua
6 the One having given Himself a ransom on behalf of all, the testimony to be given in its own time

There are three elements here: the Father Yahweh, the mediator Yeshua and mankind.

Verse 6: the one who gave himself for us is the Son. This is important because there are some preachers that teach that Yahweh and Yeshua are one and the same, the same person.

YAHWEH IS THE FATHER OF THE MESSIAH
Psalms 2:6-8; 11-12 [HRB]
6 Yea, I have set My king on My holy mount on Zion.
7 I will declare concerning the statute of YAHWEH: He said to Me, You are My Son. Today I have begotten You.
8 Ask of Me, and I make the nations Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth Your possession.
. . .
11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss (honour) the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
(Words of the Eternal in blue)

Verse 11 urges us to serve Yahweh, the Father. And verse 12 tells us to honour the Son, the Messiah.

YESHUA IS THE SON OF YAHWEH
John 20:30-31 “See My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.
30 There were indeed many other signs that יהושע (Yehoshua) did in the presence of His taught ones, which are not written in this book,
31 but these have been written so that you believe that יהושע is the Messiah, the Son of Elohim, and that, believing, you might possess life in His Name.

Yeshua’s miracles were very many and only the most notable ones were recorded. In verse 31, Yohanan says that the Yeshua is the Son of Yahweh. This testimony is indisputable.

THE FATHER AND SON ARE NOT THE SAME PERSON
Acts 3:13 [HRB]
The Elohim of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, the Elohim of our fathers, glorified His child Yahshua, whom you delivered up, and denied Him before the face of Pilate, that one having decided to set Him free.

Clearly, this verse speaks of two different beings.
<glorified His child Yahshua>: the oldest Greek manuscripts render child as servant. Later it was changed. Both forms are true, but the point is that it says the Father has glorified His servant or son Yeshua. They are not the same person. Many Christians still do not understand this truth. Yeshua’s first disciples could distinguish these two figures:

Acts 4:26 [HRB]
26 The kings of the earth have risen and rulers have deliberated as one against YAHWEH and against His Messiah."
27 For truly both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the nations and the peoples of Israel, were assembled against Your Holy Son Yahshua, whom You anointed

The Father anointed His Son Yeshua. Nobody anoints himself. Obviously, they are two distinct, separate beings.

SHAUL (PAUL) RECOGNIZED TWO SEPARATE BEINGS

Shaul and the other apostles had no confusion about this. Many Christians and some Messianic Jews believe that the Father and the Son are the same person. This confusion is a modern invention.

Romans 1:7-8 [HRB]
7 to all those who are in Rome, beloved of Elohim, called-out saints: Grace and peace to you from YAHWEH our Father and the Master Yahshua Messiah.
8 First, I thank my Elohim through Yahshua Messiah for you all, that your faith is spoken of in all the world.

EVEN IN HEAVEN, YESHUA REMAINS A MAN
Luke 24:39 [TS 2009]
“See My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.
Acts 2:32-33 , 36 [TS 2009]
32 “Elohim has raised up this יהושע (Yehoshua), of which we are all witnesses.
33 “Therefore, having been exalted to the right hand of Elohim, and having received from the Father the promise of the Set-apart Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.
. . .
36 “Therefore let all the house of Yisra’el know for certain that Elohim has made this יהושע, whom you impaled, both Master and Messiah.”

Verse 32: Another error taught by some Christian teachers is that the Messiah resurrected himself. Yahweh the Father raised the Man Yesshua.

Verse 33: Notice that when he refers to the Holy Spirit uses the term ‘this’. And it also says that it was the Father who pours it out. So, he is not talking about a person, he is referring to a thing, something, to put it more respectfully.

Verse 36: Here, as in other multiple place, we have two characters: the Father (Yahweh) and the Messiah (Yeshua). And not only that, Yeshua is still a man.

YAHWEH IS THE 'GOD' OF YESHUA

The word Elohim means Mighty or Powerful One, but to make it clear to everyone we are going to use the word ‘God’. It is the term that everyone uses now for the Father and is also mistakenly attributed to the Son. Yahweh is the ‘God’ of Yeshua as the following verses prove:

Revelation 3:12-14 [TS 2009]
12 (Yeshua speaking) “He who overcomes, I shall make him a supporting post in the Dwelling Place of My Elohim, and he shall by no means go out. And I shall write on him the Name of My Elohim and the name of the city of My Elohim, the renewed Yerushalayim, which comes down out of the heaven from My Elohim, and My renewed Name

Yeshua calls the Father his Elohim four times.

YAHWEH IS GREATER THAN YESHUA

According to the theory of the Trinity, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, are all equal, but Yeshua the Messiah says otherwise:

John 14:28 [TS 2009]
You heard that I said to you, ‘I am going away and I am coming to you.’ If you did love Me, you would have rejoiced that I said, ‘I am going to the Father,’ for My Father is greater than I.

This verse contradicts the Trinity doctrine.

YESHUA’S LIFE DEPENDS ON THE FATHER

John 6:57-58 [HRB]
57 Even as the living Father sent Me, and I live through the Father; also the one partaking Me, even that one will live through Me.
58 This is the Bread which came down out of Heaven, not as your fathers ate the manna and died; the one partaking of this Bread will live forever.

Whoever receives Yeshua as their Saviour will live forever, whoever partakes of his teachings Bread). Yeshua’s life depends on the Father just as our life depends on the Yeshua. Our salvation depends on the Messiah.

YESHUA IS THE MESSENGER OF THE COVENANT

Malachi 3:1-2 [HRB]
1 Behold, I am sending My messenger, and He will clear the way before Me. And the Master whom you are seeking shall suddenly come to His sanctuary, even the Messenger of the Covenant, in whom You delight. Behold, He comes, says YAHWEH of Hosts.
2 But who can endure the day of His coming? And who will be standing when He appears? For He is like a refiner's fire and like fuller's soap.

Yahweh is talking about His Son in this case. As for the <Messenger of the Covenant>, he is coming, he is the Messiah. Yeshua the Messiah is not the Father, not the Holy Spirit nor any of the things that some believers invent; he is the messenger of the Covenant. He is the messenger of the Father. The one who came to bring a message from the Father to humanity.
