We owe many things to the people of Yisra’el, especially since we have inherited the Holy Scriptures from them and above all the Messiah who came from the people of Yisra’el. The prophesies that have been passed down to us through the Sacred Scriptures were entrusted to these people, who have endured immense suffering over the ages. In this article, we will consider the prophesies relating to the Kingdom of Yahweh (The Universal Government of Yahweh). We will study the Creator’s purpose in the history of nations, the revelation of coming events that foretell what will happen throughout the ages. It also helps us to value the things that are seen, as well as those that are not.
ABRAHAM SAW MESSIAH’S DAY (PROPHETICALLY)
The hope of Yisra’el is based on the promise that was given to Abraham. When the Saviour was here on earth, he said Abraham rejoiced to see his day.
John 8:56 [The Scriptures 2009 - TS 2009] Your father Abraham was glad that he should see My day, and he saw it and did rejoice. (Words of Yeshua in purple)
Which means that Abraham prophetically saw the day of the Messiah in a vision, supposedly, though it does not say it so clearly.
PROPHECY ABOUT THE KINGDOM: JACOB
On his deathbed, Jacob prophesied about the Kingdom:
Genesis 49:10 [Version Israelita Nazarena - AI Translation]
(Ya'aqob speaking) The sceptre will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler's staff from between his feet; until Shilo comes to whom it belongs, and the obedience of the nations is his.
<sceptre>: referring to the government of Judah.
<Shiloh>: throughout the centuries, students, and scholars of the Scriptures have identified this character as the Messiah, the Anointed King of Yisra’el.
THE PAGAN PROPHET BALAAM PROPHESIES ABOUT THE KINGDOM
The prophet Balaam mentioned a prophecy concerning the Messiah who would come in future times:
Numbers 24:17 [TS 2009] “I see Him, but not now; I observe Him, but not near. A Star shall come out of Ya‛aqob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Yisra’el, and shall smite the corners of Mo’ab, and shall destroy all the sons of Sheth.
<a Sceptre shall rise out of Yisra’el>: the government.
<Yisra’el>: this not only refers to the Jews, but everyone who has ever belonged and currently belongs to the spiritual Israel, the children of Yahweh. Both things happened literally.
<A Star shall come out of Ya‛aqob>: It was that ‘star’ that the ‘wise men from the east saw, recorded in the book of Matthew. It is believed that they were Jewish sages who lived in the east and knew the prophecies, and that that detail was revealed to them. Whether it was a star or a phenomenon in the sky that looked like a star. It would be the forerunner of the Messiah’s arrival. And those wise men, those scholars of prophecies and possibly also astronomy, saw that special star. They received the instruction to go in search of the promised king of Yisra’el, who would be announced in symbolically by the appearance of the star, something special that is not defined as what it was. It was not a literal star, obviously, but it was a light that would lead them where the Messiah was to be born.
YAHWEH PROCLAIMS THE KINGDOM OF DAWID (DAVID)
2 Samuel 7:14, 16 [TS 2009] 14 I am to be his Father, and he is My son. If he does perversely, I shall reprove him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men. . . . 16 And your house and your reign are to be steadfast forever before you – your throne is established forever. (Words of the Eternal in blue)
Verse 14: Yahweh is speaking of the Messiah through the prophet. And Dawid (David) was the son, a son of Yahweh as king of Yisra’el. But Dawd was merely a symbol of the later King Messiah, the sovereign King who would come to rule not only Yisra’el, but all the nations of this world. This prophecy was not fulfilled in Dawid, but in Messiah, who came after.
Verse 16: Referring to Messiah and to Dawid as well. These two characters always go together. In this passage, we learn that the house is a symbol of the kingdom, it represents the government of the Almighty. In this case, through Dawid. King Dawid’s throne would be stable forever, but Dawid is already dead. So how can it be understood that king Dawid’s kingdom would be stable forever? Because that refers to the later Messiah, to the coming of the anointed King, which is what Messiah means.
THE MESSIAH WILL SIT ON THE THRONE OF DAVID TO RULE OVER THE TRIBES OF YISRA'EL
1 Chronicles 17:14 [TS 2009]
And I shall establish him in My house and in My reign forever, and let his throne be established forever
Again, the Eternal is referring to Dawid and Messiah. And how can Dawid’s throne be firm forever if Dawid is already dead? The angel told Messiah’s mother Miryam, that her son would sit on the throne of Dawid forever.
PROPHECY ABOUT THE KINGDOM: ANGEL GABRIEL
Luke 1:32-33 [TS 2009] 32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Most High. And יהוה Elohim shall give Him the throne of His father Dawid 33 “And He shall reign over the house of Ya‛aqob forever, and there shall be no end to His reign
THE MESSIAH IS NOT THE MOST HIGH
HE IS THE SON OF THE MOST HIGH
Notice that it does not say he will be called the Most High, as some preachers teach.
Obviously, Dawid was not the literal the Father of Yeshua the Messiah, but rather an ancestor who would reign in the House of Jacob forever. Where does this leave the Christian hope of going to live in heaven? Unfortunately, the Christian world is deluded by the idea that the saved go to heaven to live with Messiah. It is the other way around, the Messiah is coming to earth and his kingdom will be established forever. If we are faithful to him, we will reign with him.
PROPHECIES ABOUT THE KINGDOM: JEREMIAH AND AMOS
The prophets were spokespersons for Yahweh the Father. What they said was not something they made up, but rather predictions that the Father put in their minds, and they wrote them down. Below is a prophecy by Jeremiah:
Jeremiah 23:5-6 [Hebraic Roots Bible - HRB]
5 . . . Behold, the days come, says YAHWEH, that I will raise to David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and act wisely, and He shall do justice and righteousness in the earth.
6 In His days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely. And this is His name by which He shall be called, YAHWEH TZEDEKENU (Yahweh our righteous)
<He shall be called: YAHWEH our Righteousness>: some translations render this verse adding the verb ‘is’ as ‘יהוה is our Righteousness. What the prophet is saying is that the title that Messiah will have is ‘Yahweh is our righteousness’. In other words, his name proclaims that Yahweh is our righteousness. It is not that the Messiah will be Yahweh, it is that his name will proclaim that Yahweh is our justice («Yahweh Tsidkenu»). It is a title and not a name. The Father is our righteousness, and Messiah’s title proclaims it.
WHEN YESHUA RETURNS, HIS TITLE WILL BE YAHWEH IS OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS
And Amos, another later prophet, says:
Amos 9:11 [TS 2009]
In that day I shall raise up the Booth (tent) of Dawid which has fallen down. And I shall repair its breaches and raise up its ruins. And I shall build it as in the days of old
<Booth (tent) of Dawid which has fallen down>: This prediction implies that the literal kingdom of Dawid would be cancelled for a time. He represents it with a fallen tent. It is literally the kingdom of Dawid in this time. At present, it is physically nowhere. We are speaking spiritually. This implies that there will be a resurrection, a restoration of Dawid’s rule in Yisra’el, when the Messiah comes a second time.
THE MESSIAH WILL RESTORE THE KINGDOM OF DAVID
WHEN HE COMES A SECOND TIME
The first time he came as the ‘suffering servant’ which was foretold in Isaiah 53 and later, he would come as a King.
Going back to the prophet Jeremiah:
Jeremiah 33:17-18 [TS 2009]
17 “For thus said יהוה, ‘For Dawid there is not to cease a man to sit on the throne of the house of Yisra’el.
18 And for the priests, the Lewites, there is not to cease a man to offer ascending offerings before Me, to kindle grain offerings, and to slaughter continually.’ ”
The prophecies of the Kingdom always refer to the government of Dawid and to the people of Yisra’el. Because the Eternal kingdom of the Messiah, will not be established in heaven, but here on this earth, in the land of Yisra’el.
PROPHECIES ABOUT THE KINGDOM: PSALMS
Psalms 2:6-7 [HRB]
6 I have set My king on My holy mount on Zion.
7 . . . You are My Son. Today I have begotten You.
These words can be applied to no one but the Messiah, who was begotten by the Father. He will be King not only of Yisra’el but of the whole world.
Psalms 45:6-7 [HRB]
6 Your throne, O Elohim, is forever and ever; The sceptre of Your reign Is a sceptre of straightness.
7 You have loved righteousness and hated wrongness; Therefore Elohim, Your Elohim, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions
All these prophecies can be applied to Dawid and his reign over the land of Israel, but prophetically they applied to the Messiah.
YESHUA THE MESSIAH HAS A 'GOD' OVER HIM THE ETERNAL YAHWEH
Verse 7 – <Your Elohim (Mighty One), has anointed You>: David had a ‘God’ over him who was Yahweh. The Messiah also has a ‘God’ over him, Yahweh the Eternal.
In Revelation, in the letters of the Messiah to the seven symbolic assemblies, the Messiah calls the Father <my God> four times.
Revelation 3:12 [TS 2009] The one overcoming, I will make him a pillar in the sanctuary of My Elohim, and he shall not go out any more. And I will write the name of My Elohim on him, and the name of the city of My Elohim, the New Jerusalem which comes down out of Heaven from My Elohim, and My new name.
For the sake of our Christian brethren, this site makes use of the term ‘God’ which is not the best translation of Elohim (Mighty One). This site uses the Eternal to refer to the Creator Yahweh.
When the resurrected and glorified Messiah comes, the Jewish people will see the execution marks on this returning King, they will recognize him, the one they rejected and executed. Like Joseph, when he revealed himself to his brothers, who sold him into slavery. They will realize that the one they handed over to the Romans to be executed, was the Messiah they were waiting for. When this happens, they will be forgiven for their transgressions and will enter into the kingdom with him as well. And they will reign along with the Gentiles who are disciples of the Messiah. They will reign, with the Messiah, over the nations of the world. Then the people will raise a song recorded in the book of Revelation
Revelation 5:12 [TS 2009] Worthy is the Lamb having been slain to receive power and riches and wisdom, and strength and respect and esteem and blessing!
In other words, all those who enter the kingdom after the ungodly, the wicked, and the corrupt have been eliminated. That the first part of the kingdom, the elimination of all evil. Those who do not know him or who do not know him correctly, will know him, accept him as the King of glory, and will submit to him, to the government, and to all those who will rule with him; because the Messiah is not going to rule alone. The Messiah will rule with the Yehudim (Jews) and the Gentiles who have been grafted into the stock of Yisra’el. Study Romans chapter 11 to understand this and other similar passages.
PROPHECIES ABOUT THE KINGDOM: ISAIAH
Isaiah 9:6-7 [TS 2009]
6 For a Child is born unto us, a Son is given unto us, and the rule is on His shoulder. And His Name is called Wonder, Counsellor, Strong El, Father of Continuity, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of His rule and peace there is no end, upon the throne of Dawid and over His reign, to establish it and sustain it with right-ruling and with righteousness from now on, even forever. The ardour of יהוה of hosts does this.
<the rule is on His shoulder>: That is to say, he will be the great leader. He will be called Wonderful Counsellor.
Verse 6: <Wonder, Counsellor, Strong El, Father of Continuity, Prince of Peace.>: It does not mean they will change his name; these are titles that will be given to the Messiah when he begins to reign. It does not mean that he is the Father, it means that he will be a father to his disciples, to his people, to the nations. The Father of the universe is Yahweh, but the father of the nations, when he establishes his kingdom, will be the Messiah.
Verse 7: The throne of Dawid is in Jerusalem. In other parts of Scripture, it says that the Messiah will be the absolute King over this world for a thousand years, however here it says the Kingdom will last forever. This seems like a contradiction, but the Eternal Kingdom will come after the thousand years, when the Father descends with the New Jerusalem to this earth (see Revelation). The Messiah will not cease to be king, he will continue ruling beside the Father.
Isaiah 11:1 [Word of Yahweh - WOY]
1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
2 And the spirit of Yahweh shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of Yahweh;
. . .
5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins. .
Verse 1: <Branch>: A branch is always a symbol of a government. The Kingdom of the Messiah is not a entirely new Kingdom, but a Kingdom that springs from the ancient kingdom of Dawid.
Verse 2: <And the Spirit of YAHWEH shall rest on Him>: Who or what is the Spirit of Yahweh? It is not a who, it is a something. The Spirit of Yahweh is defined in this verse: wisdom, understanding, counsel, power, knowledge, and reverence.
Verse 5: The Messiah, the Prince of Peace will rule this world for 1000 years and his mission is to restore to the earth the peace that was restored, cancelled to a certain extent by sin.
AT THE COMING OF THE MESSIAH HUMANITY WILL BE RESTORED TO ITS ORIGINAL STATE
The introduction of sin into this world has come to break all the good relationships that humanity was supposed to develop, and all of that will be restored, reinstated. Humanity will be restored to the level of Adam and Eve. If we have the honour of entering the kingdom, we will be as perfect and as beautiful as Adam and Eve were.
PROPHECIES ABOUT THE KINGDOM: MICAH AND ZACHARIAH
Micah 5:2 [TS 2009]
But you, Beyth Lehem Ephrathah, you who are little among the clans of Yehudah, out of you shall come forth to Me the One to become Ruler in Yisra’el. And His comings forth are of old, from everlasting.
This is a clear and specific prophecy which indicates where the Messiah would be born.
<Beyth Lehem> – In Hebrew, this word means ‘House of Bread’. From that humble little village would be born the King of Yisra’el in the future.
Zechariah 9:9-10
9 “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Tsiyon! Shout, O daughter of Yerushalayim! See, your Sovereign is coming to you, He is righteous and endowed with deliverance, humble and riding on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey.
10 “And I shall cut off the chariot from Ephrayim and the horse from Yerushalayim. And the battle bow shall be cut off. And He shall speak peace to the nations, and His rule is from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth.
Verse 9: this prophecy predicts Messiah’s entry into Jerusalem when he was proclaimed as the son of the Eternal by the people. When the Messiah entered riding on a donkey that week, as Passover was approaching, he entered Jerusalem as king, the people of Yisra’el proclaimed, “Blessed is he who comes in the name of Yahweh”. They recognized him at that time as the king of Yisra’el, although they turned against him later and ended in his destruction.
<His rule is from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth>: This implies an absolute international government. He will rule over all nations, to the ends of the earth.
The prophecy of the prophecy of Micah points to the place of Messiah’s birth, Daniel specifies the time of his coming (Daniel 9:25). Then Daniel prophesied other aspects of the establishment of his kingdom. The Messiah King must be established to uplift and dignify fallen humanity. That is a summary of his vision.
PROPHECIES ABOUT THE KINGDOM: DANIEL
Daniel 2:44 [TS 2009]
And in the days of these sovereigns the Elah of the heavens shall set up a reign which shall never be destroyed, nor the reign pass on to other people – it crushes and puts to an end all these reigns, and it shall stand forever.
<And in the days of these sovereigns>: this refers to the kings symbolized by the image; an image composed of various metals (Daniel 2:31-33). Christian pastors explain that image in detail, how it represented the empires that would rise in this world.
This verse also refers to the ‘crushing’ of nations represented by a rock that is said to have come down from the sky, which represents the kingdom of the Messiah. It destroyed the image that represented the governments of the world. This rock began to grow until it covered the whole world (Daniel 2:34-35). This is a symbol of the Kingdom of the Messiah who will come, eliminate governments (not people), and establish, and grow until he covers all nations under his dominion.
AT HIS SECOND COMING THE MESSIAH WILL CRUSH ALL THE WORLD GOVERNMENTS (NOT THE PEOPLE) AND HIS KINGDOM WILL FILL THE EARTH
We find a one more detail in:
Daniel 7:13-14
13 “I was looking in the night visions and saw One like the Son of Enosh, coming with the clouds of the heavens! And He came to the Ancient of Days, and they brought Him near before Him. Footnote: Son of Enosh - This Aramaic term is similar to the Hebrew ‘Ben Aḏam,’ (Son of Adam) but not the exact equivalent of it.
14 “And to Him was given rulership and preciousness and a reign, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His rule is an everlasting rule which shall not pass away, and His reign that which shall not be destroyed.
<Son of Enosh> – This Aramaic term is similar to the Hebrew ‘Ben Adam,’ (Son of Adam) but not the exact equivalent of it.
The words of Jacob spoken on his deathbed fill us with hope: <The sceptre will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet; until Shiloh comes . . . >.
The Kingdom of Yisra’el will never be taken away, and it still exists until Messiah comes. The sceptre will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet; until he comes to whom it belongs, and the obedience of the nations is his. Very few have understood the nature and mission of the Messiah. In all Christian religions there is some truth, but somehow it is a watered-down gospel.
The true message and proclamation of the Kingdom is what the prophets tell us in the sacred Scriptures: a powerful King who will establish his government in Yisra’el, and that government will never be eliminated or left to other kingdoms. The Messiah will continue to reign, after the 1,ooo years, with his Father on the throne of Dawid in Jerusalem (see the book of Revelation).
