In Scripture, when we see the word ‘branch’ it refers to the Messianic King Yehshua
Isaiah 11:1 1 And a Rod{King} comes from the stump of Yishay and a Branch {Messianic title}from his roots bears fruit
Jeremiah 23:5
5 Behold, days come, - an oracle of Yah Veh that I raise to David a just Sprout, and a Sovereign reigns and comprehends and works judgment and justness in the earth.
These verses refer to the Messiah and his kingdom. He will establish a government that will usher in peace and harmony to the whole creation.
During the time of the prophet Zechariah there was a high priest called Yah Shua [other translations render this name as Joshua, Jesus, Yehoshua, Iosua…] and it was during those days that the name of Messiah was foretold, not only before him but before all the priests and Yahweh makes specific mention that this would be a sign to take note of
Zechariah 3:8 8 Hear I beseech, O Yah Shua the great priest - you and your friends sitting at your face: for they are men of omens: for behold, I bring forth my servant the SPROUT.
Zechariah 6:11-12
11 and take silver and gold, and work crowns; and set them on the head of Yah Shua
the son of Yah Sadaq the great priest;
12 and say to him, saying, Thus says Yah Veh Sabaoth:
saying, Behold the man whose name is The SPROUT;
and he sprouts from his place
and he builds the manse of Yah Veh
Who is this man that Yahweh is talking about? It is Yeshua (Joshua) the high priest. So, is Yahweh calling Yeshua (Joshua) the BRANCH?
No, Yahweh has just declared that Yeshua (Joshua), the high priest in Zechariah’s day, bears the same name as the BRANCH, the future King Messiah.
In other words, Yahweh has chosen the name Yeshua as the name for His Messiah. This prophecy has remained unseen for thousands of years. Today, Yahweh is revealing it to us that we may know the NAME of His Messiah.
As a sign for this NAME the priests are told to make crowns of silver and gold and to set them upon the head of Yeshua (Joshua), the high priest, to signify the coming of Yeshua the Messiah.
In Hebrew the NAME Yeshua (Joshua) means YHWH saves.
